So it's official, I'll be heading to Japan on July 1st to work at a government research facility doing basically the same things that I'm doing now. I don't know if it has sunk in completely yet, but I'll need to start preparing I think, studying up kanji / vocab / etc. Thinking about things I really want to do, watch a drift event (?), I don't know exactly yet. All I know right now is that I'll be poor and that I'll be there till the end of September when school starts back up again. I'll be working 45 minutes from Tokyo by train so hopefully that will keep some options open for things to do.

I've been speedskating fairly regularly and have improved a bit since I started. I'm getting stronger and a little more comfortable although I'm still getting nervous in the corners when I begin to pick up speed and when there are other people around me / passing / etc. It's fun though, so hopefully I'll be able to become as fast as some of the other people in the club sometime soon (while not crashing).

Drift school is coming up in a week and a half. I'm looking forward to testing out the new steering rack spacers and getting some seat time. Hopefully I can start linking several corners together while drifting by the end of the day. However, my biggest hope with every event is that no mechanical problems develop with the car. It looks like there will be a drift school at Evergreen Speedway next month also. I will definitely be hitting that up as well and perhaps start attending open drift practices there too if I feel confident enough since it's the closest drifting site in the area (and there's no course working / spotting required!).
